As some of you already know, I started a new job as a front end developer over at Sí TV early this month. While I’m technically a freelancer there, I am working in house from 9-6 everyday. I’m really enjoying it so far. The people there are great and there is so much diversity in the office. The 2 people I work directly with are pretty chill and fun to be around.
I’m working with a new environment and with a new content management system called Drupal.
My first few weeks there have been crazy. I’ve learned a pretty sweet way to develop email newsletters and over the next few days I’m going to start working with Drupal. I’ve been playing around with it at home since I got hired and am really looking forward to getting my hands dirty.
Good times are ahead.
TypeKit Rocks my socks!
On another note, I just started using TypeKit. I got a private invite and am testing it out on this site. It’s a system that allows you to use a plethora of fonts on the web. These are actual fonts and not flash embeds or images, making it easy to copy and paste content. I’m signed up on the free service for now, but they have plans starting around 25 bucks a year.
I’d like to note that the fonts are pretty sweet too; they’re not lame or ugly. Additionally, the service only works with browsers that support @font-face. However, I heard there’s a way to make it work older browsers as TypeKit uses JavaScript to display the fonts. I’ll be writing a full review once I’m up and running with my paid subscription. If you’d like to use it let me know, I have some unused invites. Read all about it here.
It works on glass?!
A comfortable mouse is essential when you spend a crap load of time in front of a computer. So I really want to get this Logitech mouse. Apparently, it works on glass and I can’t count the times I’ve had to use a magazine or a piece of paper to get some work done at a coffee shop. It’s frustrating to say the least. It’s a bit pricey, but it has everything I need, including the forward and back button. Logitech does a pretty good job too. I don’t think I’d ever use another brand for work on the go. Unless I find something better of course.
Signing off!
I’ve got to back to wasting time on the web and watching YouTube videos of people failing miserably at life. See you next week!
